Wow! I cannot believe I didn't get Paul this way before. Eric opened my eyes. Paul literally fell off his high horse and had an epiphany. This is the story of Jesus blinding him and saying, "Why do you persecute Me?" Oh, I always knew that story, That was the easy part of the story from the days of Sunday School as a young girl. But when Paul says that we would be the most pitied and pathetic of pagans, if Jesus's resurrection was not true, well I didn't get it the same way as I got it during the reading of this book. I read passages like this and just glaze over and don't really think about the impact of the words. His explanation made me want to tell everyone about Paul and hisMaybe it's my need to start putting things together as I age that Eric's words suddenly made such an impression on me. I felt like I was knocked off of my high horse as well as Paul, because it just hit me out of the blue. I didn't expect to be shocked by anything in the book, and then I was. That was my awakening.I am so happy I read this book, and I have passed it around and bought additional copies for family and friends in the meantime. What a great Christmas gift this would be for those who have a difficult time believing in something they cannot see and didn't experience themselves. Those Doubting Thomases in our lives deserve to know that all of Jesus's disciples died horrible deaths because they knew Jesus and recognized his resurrection as a true miracle. It's their sacrifices that are proof positive of a living God who loved us so much that he gave his only son to save us all.

THIS WAS GOING TO BE A THREE STAR REVIEW. I read the book and said to myself that it was just an okay book, but I kept having second and third thoughts about it. I do a tremendous amount of reading and very rarely does a book make me want to go back and read large sections and even whole chapters again and again. The title of the book says it all. MIRACLES There is one quote from the book that I keep going back to "If God made everything in the vast universe just as it is simply so that we could exist, we must begin to wonder why. What are we to him that he would do all of this? Why would he make it all so extravagantly, even so unreasonable perfect? If it was all done just for us, the question arises. Who are we?" Read the book to find out why. Eric Metals does a wonderful job of logically helping us think through the questions (Who are we? and Why does God care about us so much?) Thank you Eric for writing this awesome book. FIVE STARS

Metaxas takes a multifaceted approach to the subject of miracles. He begins in science and reviews the miracle that is the existence of the universe. The fine-tuning that allows the universe and life to exist defies chance to the extent that miracle is about the only way to describe it. He then enters into the Bible and examines its miracles, with a focus of the resurrection of Christ (see also The Historical Jesus: Ancient Evidence for the Life of Christ). Then he goes into the stories of people he has personally met or knows and their miraculous events. And not all miracles are of the "parting of the Red Sea" type, as Metaxas explains, they are far more diverse and prevalent than we dare suppose. This isn't a book with an agenda, but one that gives a detailed and honest examination of a topic most people don't give much regard. Metaxas shows them why they should.

Well I must say that Eric has a prodigious intellect and a humorous turn of phrase that often makes me laugh out loud. His book handles the subject of miracles very adeptly, stryking at the heart of the skeptic in all of us. I recommend this book to anyone who has faith but is conflicted by their reason. Or any one who has reason but is conflicted by their faith. Five stars for fun, faith, sobriety, joy, heartache & love.

My favorite chapters were "Miracles and Science," The Miracle of the Universe," and "Is Life a Miracle?" Metaxas is obviously a very intelligent man, and he writes beautifully. He is not one of those creationists who believes the earth is less than 7,000 years old, but he is a creationist. If you dare to read his book, you may become one too. If you can read his book and maintain your faith in atheistic abiogenesis, you are one true disbeliever! He gives many examples of how our universe and life on our planet defy all the odds. I believe he shows that intelligent design is the only explanation for our existence. It brought chills down my spine and a peaceful feeling of knowing there has to be a God.

I had previously written a good review before I got to the second half and gave up. Now I rewrite my review. The first half on miracles is very good but reminds me of seminary. Having said that, where is the bibliography? A lot of these can be attributed to scholarly sources and should be as these theories were not made up by the author. Had I done this in grad school well I would have failed without crediting sources. The second half I just had to stop reading. The personal miracles of friends and own conversion etc. read to me as disorganized, uninteresting, and quite honestly not what I expected from a book on miracles. I guess because I studied under Dr. Habermas (I can name drop too as does Eric M in his book) the noteworthy scholar on the resurrection and miracles I expected more from this book. I put it away and I will not share this book. For it to be taken seriously, I would like to see a good bibliography and for the second-half of the book better organization to mean anything.

There were portions in the first half of the book I looked forward to sharing until I realized he did not document any of his sources in a bibliography! To whom was Metaxas writing, Christians who would just accept his claims without seeking substantiation? I think there are sufficient literary criticisms in the 1-3 star ratings without adding mine. Sadly, this is not a book I will pass on to others.

Review

From the reviews of the second edition:"The book contains new chapters, which cover areas of the field that were in their infancy or did not exist at all when the first edition was completed in 1994. … The second edition deserves to be intensely studied by students or young PhDs who want to pursue the research on quantum properties of light. It should also be a part of every university’s library." (Daniela Dragoman, Optics and Photonics News, November, 2008)"This is a beautiful and self-contained textbook that unifies new and well-established basic theory and experiment. It provides the readers with … both the tools of theoretical quantum optics and clarifications on the way features of squeezed states are currently being exploited, as for protocols in quantum information. … It can be definitively suggested, among the others, to all those who are willing to be safely guided into the theoretical and experimental fundamentals that place quantum optics in a central position in modern physics." (Giulio Landolfi, Zentralblatt MATH, Vol. 1163, 2009)“Quantum optics has witnessed significant theoretical and experimental developments, which are indeed concisely and effectively surveyed in the book. It covers a broad range of topics in the field, from the fundamentals to specialized problems of modern research, through a precise, though not introductory, treatment. The book is definitely suitable to graduate students and researchers in quantum optics with a solid mathematical background. … a valuable and enjoyable tool to complete and enrich an already established knowledge in the field.” (Amalia Torre, Mathematical Reviews, Issue 2011 h)

From the Back Cover

Quantum Optics gives a comprehensive coverage of developments in quantum optics over the past years. In the early chapters the formalism of quantum optics is elucidated and the main techniques are introduced. These are applied in the later chapters to problems such as squeezed states of light, resonance fluorescence, laser theory, quantum theory of four-wave mixing, quantum non-demolition measurements, Bell's inequalities, and atom optics. Experimental results are used to illustrate the theory throughout. This yields the most comprehensive and up-to-date coverage of experiment and theory in quantum optics in any textbook. More than 40 exercises helps readers test their understanding and provide practice in quantitative problem solving.

I used this book for an introductory graduate course on Quantum Optics, and trying to follow this book was one of the most frustrating experiences I have had. I feel that I have a good background in Quantum Mechanics in general, and I thought I would be able to follow the text relatively easily. The derivations presented in the book, however, periodically skip over some important mathematical and physical assumptions, and combining that with numerous typos in the formulas, it takes an eternity to read, with much time devoted to wondering whether I or the book is wrong. It would be one thing if there were some issues with the details but the physical insights of the problems were emphasized, but that is also not the case. I haven't used any other texts so I can't recommend anything else, but I wouldn't want to repeat going through this book.Amazon, on the other hand, did a great job shipping the book. It came perfectly on time.

This book was recommended to me by one of the world's leaders in quantum computing, who told me it was the best introduction powerful enough to explain the kinds of principles necessary to make this new kind of hardware really work. It is not an introduction to optics; Lipson's beautiful clear book on optics is maybe the best way to get ready for this, and Mandl and Shaw's book on quantum field theory is an excellent empirically-oriented start to that subject. This book is an excellent summary of a lot of new work -- unifying new basic theory and experiment -- which goes beyond those two. There has been a revolution in getting past the limits of the old semiclassical approximation methods in quantum optics, and developing technology beyond the scope of the older methods; I haven't seen any other general introductory text which covers all the key points of that work. Howard J. Carmichael's book from Springer is also excellent, and covers similar ground, but is a bit more advanced -- and still lacked the essential Volume II, last I checked. Anyone who wishes to really understand what quantum measurement is about needs to understand what is in this book.

The book is a good one as it covers quantum optics and is relatively clear, considering this is a difficult subject. The level is not an introductory level. For that level I recommend the book Quantum Optics/Mark Fox. The main problem I found in this book is that it is full of typos at a rate of about two per page. In one instance "begin" is written as "being" and "whether" as "weather". This is frustrating, as it shows lack of respect to the reader. Sometimes the typos are in the formulas and result in wasting the reader's time on finding whether a typo exists or not. On the other hand, one advantage I found is the conciseness of the book with a length of only 425 pages and good coverage of the subject.

I used this book in a regular graduate course on Quantum Optics, when it would be my first contact with the subject, and I have to say I become very irritated when I look at this book. It is probably my fault, because I should have used a more introductory book. Here the authors don't derive almost anything, they use lots of expressions and take it from nowhere. I think it is assumed one should know the formalism, because many topics are just there without a reasonable explanation (my point of view). All the chapters have lots of references and citations to the original articles where the intermediate steps are explained, but the book is not self contained. The good part of the book is that here one can find lots of things that are research subject all together. If one knows what the authors are doing (because almost every time they put results without telling how to get them) it can be useful.I think Mandel and Wolf (Optical Coherence..) or Scully and Zubairy (Quantum Optics) are better for a first contact with Q. O..

The Catholic Church has been around for two thousand years. It has an extremely rich and variegated history that has witnessed everything from the height of the ancient Roman Empire to the current hyper-connected state of our globalized world. Given such length and complexity, it’s no surprise that we find many inaccuracies, oversimplifications and outright lies and myths used by the detractors and enemies of the Church in an effort to cast her in an unfavorable light.I have personally experienced such myths of Catholic history in the form of questions ranging from the legitimacy of the Crusades of the Middle Ages to the alleged atrocities of the Catholic inquisitions in medieval Christendom. What’s the average Catholic to do in the face of such challenges?Professor Steve Weidenkopf is a lecturer of Church history at the Christendom college graduate school of theology and a regular contributor to Catholic Answers’ published material. His most recent work titled “The real story of Catholic History: Answering twenty centuries of anti-Catholic myths” is a magnificent compendium of sound scholarship and apologetic finesse that seeks to put to rest the most vicious and pernicious myths of Church history.Without ever whitewashing the faults perpetrated by some of her members, Professor Weidenkopf deals honestly with the major events of Church history and applies a much needed corrective to the popular yet false narratives that still enjoy widespread circulation. At 55 yet succinct chapters, the book is staggering in the number of topics it addresses. All the major events in Church history that have been subject to gross distortions are aptly handled including some you probably have not heard of such as this one: “The Church began mandating clerical celibacy during the Middle Ages so that it could acquire the clergy’s family property.”We have the mission as Catholics to bear witness to the apostolic faith in word and deed. Equipped with Professor Weidenkopf’s new book, we can be more confident that the splendor of truth will shine more radiantly as we work for the advancement of God’s kingdom on earth.

Straightforward and clearly written. A must for those who want to understand the true history of the Catholic Church and debunk the myths that are so pervasive and untrue about the Catholic Church.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I was surprised to read about the anti Semitic views of Martin Luther and the real history of Marie Antoinette during the French Revolution. I'd recommend this book to any Catholic would like to refute secular arguments against our faith.

This look at the real history of the Catholic Church uses well documented historically accurate data to debunk many myths concerning the church Jesus started with Peter as his Rock. The synopsis at the end of each chapter ties the narrative and facts together. A must read for Catholic's allowing them to answer many of the questions brought against the Catholic Church by Protestants.

I bought this book because I wanted to know more about my faith history starting on the first century. This book contains many facts about the criticisms of the Catholic faith by the Church enemies, and the author introduces apologetics for each one of the different themes throughout two millennia. I found it very detailing in regards to history. The book is easy to read and difficult to put it down.My only disappointment was related to the Inquisition chapters. For all I have heard, read and seen before about the Inquisition, the author sounds softer than necessary and blames others (Spain, Portugal, France, the monarchy, etc.) for all the outrageous acts of evil executed by Church members.

Great book for anyone who has been challenged by the avalache of criticism wielded by the secular world and anti-Catholic prejudice. Weidenkopf's defense of the Christian faith is well stated and based on facts. I am a scientist and I work with many well educated people. I'm always amazed at how ill-informed many well-educated people are and this book has helped me defend my faith and open others to the possibility of recognizing their own misconceptions of Catholic history. This book will be invaluable helping to prepare my teenage kids for their future when they attend college and must face their own challenges among their peers misconceptions of our faith.

Excellent reference book. Easy to read. Hard to stop reading.

Brief, clear answers of what really happened. Sources are in footnotes at the end of each chapter. I would have also liked a bibliography with summaries at the end. I also would like an index.

Crossing the Quality Chasm: A New Health System for the 21st Century

From The New England Journal of Medicine

The Institute of Medicine's Committee on Quality of Health Care in America has issued its second and final report, Crossing the Quality Chasm: A New Health System for the 21st Century. The committee has done an excellent job, but its report is as noteworthy for what it omits as for what it says. It identifies and analyzes with great insight and clarity deficiencies in the quality of our present medical care delivery system, and it is persuasive in outlining how the system ought to work. But it does not say much about the fundamental causes of those deficiencies. Nor does it address the central question: Can we really ``cross the quality chasm'' in medical care without major reform of the whole system? The committee's earlier report, To Err Is Human: Building a Safer Health System (Linda T. Kohn, Janet M. Corrigan, and Molla S. Donaldson, eds. Washington, D.C.: National Academy Press, 1999), was released in the fall of 1999. The report created an immediate sensation with its estimate of 44,000 to 98,000 deaths annually due to errors in hospital care, which it said were due more to error-prone institutional systems than to mistakes by individual health care workers. Predictably, the report launched a spate of governmental and private projects to study the cause and reporting of such events and the means of preventing them. The committee's second report moves beyond the initial focus on medical mishaps and takes a broader look at other problems with the quality of health care. It suggests, in general terms, a variety of ways in which the effectiveness and efficiency of health care should be improved. The report is thoughtful, painstaking, and totally reasonable, and yet it has attracted much less attention than its predecessor. Why hasn't Crossing the Quality Chasm had more impact? I think there are several reasons. First, it contains nothing nearly so sensational as the claim made in the first report that tens of thousands of deaths are caused by medical errors. Second, most of the problems in our health care system that are identified in the second report have been widely recognized for some time. For example, as important causes of reduced quality, the report cites fragmentation of responsibility and lack of continuity in the care of individual patients. It describes the lack of coordination and communication among providers and between providers and patients. And it faults the system for not sufficiently employing electronic-information technology. It criticizes the system's failure to rely on evidence-based guidelines as standards for practice and faults providers for failing systematically to record and report outcomes. It also finds the current health care delivery system insufficiently responsive to the needs of patients and not sufficiently accountable to payers or patients. All these problems are certainly important. But they have been described before, and this report offers little that is substantive in the way of new and practical ways to solve them. This omission is probably the chief reason for the lukewarm reception given this study. Granted, the study calls for greater attention to the need for improving the quality of care. It calls for workshops, more research and education, a reexamination of current payment methods, and many other general initiatives of this kind. It urges Congress to establish a ``Health Care Quality Innovation Fund'' to support projects on the improvement of quality, and it estimates that something ``on the order of $1 billion over 3 to 5 years'' would be needed. The report also suggests that the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality should identify ``not fewer than 15 priority conditions'' and should convene a meeting to ``develop strategies, goals, and action plans for achieving substantial improvements in quality in the next 5 years for each of the priority conditions.'' But these recommendations, however well intended, do not go to the heart of the matter, and they offer little in the way of fundamental solutions. In fairness to the committee's meticulous and scholarly work, I should acknowledge that it did not set out to ``recommend specific organizational approaches to achieve the aims set forth.'' The committee was no doubt asked instead to concentrate on general aims, to suggest principles and guidelines for improving the quality of care, rather than confront the controversies that would result from suggesting basic reforms in the organization of the health system. So, what is wrong with the organization of our present health care system that accounts for its problems with quality? In my view, the central problem is that the system is being directed mainly by market forces, which are as ill suited to the achievement of the quality goals envisioned in this report as they are to the attainment of the equally important goals of cost control and universal access. The notion that health care is basically an economic commodity represents a radical change from earlier assumptions about the social purpose of health care. It has gained currency only during the past 10 to 20 years, but it has already produced public policies that are rapidly converting our health care system into a vast competitive marketplace. We now have a large and growing sector of health care delivery controlled by private business, to a degree unmatched in any other nation. As is the case with other markets in the U.S. economy, the part of medical service that is privately insured is distributed primarily according to the ability to pay. The multiple independent private insurers (mostly investor-owned) constantly seek to reduce their payments to providers and their financial obligations to sick patients. Similar economic pressures and incentives are at work in the governmental half of the system. In all parts of the system, the providers of care (i.e., hospitals and physicians) see themselves as competing businesses struggling to survive in a hostile economic climate, and they act accordingly. The predictable result is a fragmented, inefficient, and expensive system that neglects those who cannot pay, scrimps on the support of public health services and medical education, and has all of the deficiencies in quality that are so well described and analyzed in this report. It is a system that responds more to the financial interests of investors, managers, and employers than to the medical needs of patients. The best way to achieve substantial improvements in the quality of care, I believe, would be to change the system. Unfortunately, the committee does not say that. It concentrates instead on suggestions for modifying behavior in the current system. However, the prospects for persuading participants caught up in the present commercially dominated system to behave in a more socially responsible way are not very good. I suspect most members of the committee know that but that they felt constrained by the terms of their charge to focus on incremental improvements in the quality of the present system. Given those constraints, they have done all that could have been expected, and they have done it very well. A more definitive approach to the problems they address must await major reforms in the health care system. Arnold S. Relman, M.D. Copyright © 2001 Massachusetts Medical Society. All rights reserved. The IOH, Institute of Health, published two exhaustive reports on healthcare: To Err is Human and Crossing the Quality Chasm. They are dry, academic, ponderous and difficult to read. However they are two of the most important books written about healthcare in the United States and mandatory reading for anyone in the field of medicine. Virtually every other book on improving healthcare quotes or uses the research from these two books.Healthcare is under a radical transformation based on enormous economic and demand pressures. In order to be successful we have to understand the system, warts and all. We have to have solutions based on empirical peer reviewed data. These IOH reports do just that. While they may seem dated and many of the initiatives advocated by these books are well underway, these books remain 'bibles' of a sort for understanding the US medical system. I strongly recommend reading this books because so much of the current reform, language, and subsequent published literature is based on these two reports.I recently attended a training by Intermountain Healthcare in UT - the hospital system discussed during the election debates. The CFO quoted from these books. That is just one illustration of how influential and important these books are. Even if you don't work in medicine these books will help you manage and direct your own care. Read also "Overtreated" by Shannon Brownlee, which also uses IOH data and research. Not easy reads but few important reads are.

This book is written as the product of an Institute of Medicine initiative to reduce the mortality and morbidity from errors in the American healthcare system. The Institute of Medicine is a private organization created by congressional charter to advise the federal government on specific matters. Their mission statement is to "advance and disseminate knowledge to improve human health." This book is the final report of the Committee on the Quality of Health Care in America. Their homepage is available by searching the Internet using the full committee name. Membership of the committee and sponsors of the project are available at that web site. The format of the book is to present evidence for quality problems in healthcare in America and make recommendations. The operational definition of quality used in the book is "The degree to which health care services for individuals and populations increase the likelihood of desired health outcomes and are consistent with current professional knowledge." There are thirteen recommendations presented initially and are discussed in relevant chapters. The recommendations vary in scope from suggesting that multiple parties need to be committed to quality as a way to decrease the burden of disease to suggestions that specific agencies fund pilot studies to look at how reimbursement can be aligned with quality. Six major parameters are discussed as guiding quality and it is suggested that 15 specific conditions be a focus for improving quality. There is no difficulty in identifying literature studies that demonstrate quality problems in hospital and clinical populations. A survey of current research is included in Appendix A. A review of the tables in this appendix show the types of quality markers that are typically studied in the literature. The authors make the argument that errors due to quality lapses or deficiencies need to be actively worked on and that the current high error rates are not acceptable. Health care has become a major political issue and the political factions are shaping up to be government and business on one side and physicians and other health care providers on the other. There has been a major revamping of the health care system in the past decade to control costs. That required the active cooperation of the insurance industry and government. There is still medical inflation and limited access with 40 million Americans uninsured. Should we believe that another cooperative effort between industry and government will improve quality any more than it has controlled cost or improved access? The authors acknowledge weaknesses in their suggestions about changing the face of American medicine, but they minimize the adverse impact of the current funding mechanisms for medical care and the issue of information systems integration and security. A good example can be found in their application of engineering principles to clinical settings - - where teams see patients for four hours of direct contact time and the remaining time is for documentation and returning calls. That plan would not be economically feasible in many settings. The high cost and lack of flexibility of the current reimbursement schemes are not mentioned as a potential reason why these plans won't work.Information technology is seen as a way to enhance both productivity and safety. The authors suggest that e-mail can lead to productive exchanges between physicians and patients. Many physicians have been doing this for years. Many have also stopped with the advent of security concerns about medical privacy. With larger IT systems the critical issue is backward compatability with older systems. That usually requires custom designs that are extremely expensive. Those problems usually need to be solved before bedside computing and decision support can be developed. Security is acknowledged as a problem that needs to be solved. In spite of a federal initiative in this area, the important precedent to remember is how the financial privacy of Americans was protected. The authors point out that medical privacy requirements need to be more stringent than other industries. At the same time they point out that some opinions suggest that there is a trade off between privacy protections and the need to advance information technology in health care. If they are suggesting that the Internet should be at the heart of this infrastructure and the Internet is not secure, what does that mean?A practical approach might be to focus on the areas where data is entered into computer systems and make sure that non-human analysis occurs at those levels. For example, all hospitals enter pharmacy orders into computer systems. Many hospitals require that physicians write separate discharge orders. Both of these points are areas where there could be immediate improvements in accuracy. A focused study and solution could be engineered now. The necessary software and hardware requirements could be placed on a central web site and available for download by hospital and clinic IT staff. Existing reviewers could be charged with documenting the baseline level of errors and the degree of improvement. This book succeeds as a broad survey of what has been done about quality in certain settings. It contains some interesting ideas about what can possibly be accomplished by applying conceptual advances from other fields. It does not discuss the significant drawbacks of evidence based medicine. It lacks a practical plan for transitioning to a new system and in effect creates a new chasm. With a work like this, whether you like the conclusions depends a lot on your interpretation of the evidence and your personal experience. As a practicing physician and a previous quality reviewer I have significant areas of disagreement with what is presented in this book. Areas of controversy are not elaborated upon. I suppose you could say that level of analysis is not required, but recommendations about the future of health care in America should at least meet the criteria of "evidence based" and all the evidence should be discussed.George Dawson, MD

The original book for healthcare reform! Tracks Institute of Medicine (IOM)'s diagnosis of root causes of healthcare costs and inffectiveness. Summarizes the results of workshops in which the best minds in healthcare, computer sciences and policy come together to understand and observe various dimensions of healthcare and its problems. Addressing root causes always better than addressing symptoms. That's what this book represents!

good reference book. Delivered as promised and on time.

Information is dry reading and information is a bit dated but the book is good overall.

Great reference for anyone interested in quality in our health care system. it is unfortunate that many of the policy makers haven't really read this and digested what the lessons were. It was written a decade ago and we are still struggling with recommendations that were made then. I would recommend this to anyone interested in this topic.

The healthcare challenge is one that will take a lot to change. I think the book outlines the issues really well and makes you think about what is required to change the healthcare system. The question now is how do undertake such a massive overhaul?

If you are in anyway involved in health care, this is essential reading. Physicians, hospital administrators, purchasers, health plan execs, and grad students must immediately put this on the top of their reading list. Lives may depend on it.In it, the highly respected Institute of Medicine builds a powerful case for how the current health care system is severely broken and how it has produced a "chasm" between what we known must be done for patients (based on current science of medicine) and what is actually done. The information conveyed is shocking but true. Even more importantly, the Institute gives us a plan for building a new, more accountable quality-driven approach to health care.Read it and perhaps you too will be motivated to take action to improve health care delivery in America.

Bill O'Neill is a great writer. He writes clearly and to the point. He is also very knowledgeable. This book of his is amazing. It is his second volume on general subjects. His first volume received great acclaim. This book is filled with many dozens of facts. Lots of them will make readers laugh. Many will be worth remembering and repeating at gatherings, formal and informal. A few examples: where did the word “money” come from, the angel’s share in making good whiskey, and why barbers use a red and white stripped pole.

This is a fabulous read! Full of great thought-provoking facts ... good information to share with family, friends and co-workers! I work a full time job during the day ... which requires brain power and attention to detail ... and this book is a fine example of the type of entertainment and brain feed which I so enjoy! I like to learn new things and Bill O'Neill packs his books with interesting information. GREAT job ... Bill! I have read both of your Knowledge Encyclopedias and I look forward to reading more of your books!

I’m not exactly a trivia buff or anything, I just find it interesting learning random things. Instead of just listing random facts, you get the story of how things came about. For instance....what’s the story as to how the term jaywalker cane about? I now know this and it is interesting.

As a longtime fan of trivia, I found this book very interesting and having details I never heard of or knew before. Fun format and not just one-line random bits, but a paragraph of information about something. Recommended.

A bit of everything in this book, also read the first. I think it would have to be updated daily on some of the stories but he gives you enough to want to Google parts

Some are gross, some are happy, some just seem just unbelievable. All in all it is a very good read.

You don't realize how much you DIDN'T know until you've read one ofMr. O'Neill's fact books.

I liked this book. Very interesting.
