Each devotional is fairly short and includes Biblical Scripture, a short devotional and a prayer. I like that they are short, as I typically also am doing some sort of Bible study, but also like to add in a directed daily devotional. I've just started learning to play the harmonica and bought 5 books. This is clearly my favorite for 3 reasons: it has the best selection of songs that I like, they are a good mix of easy and more challenging for beginners, and the tabs are printed clearer (easier to see when playing) than any of the other books. Highly recommend.

This is a great book to start out with. It really has a lot of songs and it is very cheap. Everything is in the key of C, so if you just buy the C harmonica, you're good to go.

Great book. All songs with standard music notation, harp tablature and guitar chords. Well made. Good selection of 62 American songs. Everything in first position for harp. I'm excited to play harp and guitar together and this book makes its very easy.

A great selection of songs to relax by the campfire with, hone your skill with the harmonica, and keep the bears away. The paperback material that was used for the cover was also impressive and feels sturdy enough to stand the test of time. Very pleased with this purchase overall.

The American Harmonica Song book is very and concise, easy to read and understand. All the songs are written with notes tablature and lyrics. I would highly recommend this book. It has helped me out tremendously in learning to play the Harmonica.

Plenty of mistakes. I can read music some. And even as inexperienced as I am, I can find mistakes. Some are mistakes in harmonica tabulatures. Some notes are just wrong.I would not buy it had I known how poorly written and edited it was.

Pretty good songbook. I would give it a perfect rating but some of the "draws" and "blows" are mislabeled but you will figure out which ones fairly quickly.

You already know most of these songs, but sit down for a few minutes with this book and you'll be playing them! This inexpensive book is the express route to gaining skills, confidence and a repertoire you can carry anywhere.

This was hard to rate. It was an interesting read and I liked parts of it, but I was VERY disappointed in the amount of made up stuff in this book. It is supposedly a "True Story", but about 1/2 way through the book I began to realize there is no way some of this stuff happened and I found outright errors (e.g. the U.S. won't extradict any US citizen? Wrong!) By the end I was wondering which parts were true, and that really reduced my enjoyment overall. I Feel Like I was Conned Too. I did some googling and found that Mr. Abagnate even states/admits that many things were exaggerated by the co-writer and he wished that were not done. I believe that there are a lot of things that really happened in this book, but also a lot of things that are totally made up. (And some obvious sections where the co-author had go back and write a supplimental paragraph because a logical error was found in the draft. Not a smooth cover job.) Anyway, it would have been great without the made up stuff. Then I wouldn't wondered how much I had been suckered.

Frank W. Abagnale deserves all the praise we can give him. After a bad beginning, he went to jail and paid for his fraudulent activities from age 16 to 20. Then, he turned around. He began to work with the FBI on revealing fraud. He started his own business and is now a millionaire, helping the FBI, private businesses and people to discover fraud. This is important for the elderly especially and he works with the AARP. He makes presentations sponsored by the AARP in various cities. He talks about his life (now at age 70) and gives good advise to AARP members on avoiding fraud and scams. Anyone can order his books from Amazon and gain considerable knowledge for their own good. I was privileged to be at a recent presentation he made in Las Vegas, Nevada. The people just loved him! AND SO DID I! Thank you, Amazon, for being a most reliable on-line center for finding what we are looking for.

"This book is based on the true-life exploits of Frank Abagnale. To protect the rights of those whose paths have crossed the author's, all of the characters and some of the events have been altered, and all names, dates, and places have been changed."This warning on the the copyright page of Catch Me if You Can should serve as a warning that this is actually a work of fiction, not "The True Story of a Real Fake." This is a case where the book isn't any better rooted in reality than the movie. Like the Little House books, it's a riveting read--but shouldn't be marketed as non-fiction or biography. Among the duplicities in the book:- "When Mom finally divorced my father, I elected to live with Dad." In numerous recorded speeches, Frank says that he ran away the instant he found out his parents were getting divorced. Literally, the last time his father saw him was running out of Family Court.- "Ten minutes before the pilot was to make his landing approach, I rose and strolled back to one of the lavatories and locked myself inside." In his speeches, Frank blames the 'toilet' scene on the movie scriptwriters, claiming he actually escaped through the galley.- He never mentions (although the movie does) that he went directly from prison to working for the FBI (which he has continued to do to this day). All the stuff about him not being able to get a job due to his criminal record was apparently put in the book to conceal that he was an FBI undercover agent during his early years in the FBI, continuing to impersonate and con people, but this time with the government's aid and approval.

Catch Me If You Can is an interesting story documenting a five year crime stint like no other. He was the ultimate con man with balls of steel and he impersonated a pilot, a doctor, a teacher - while bilking banks out of millions of dollars. Having seen the movie, the book is quite different...as is often the case. However, it kept me engaged and was a very worthwhile read.

My copy of this book is through Audible books version. Let me first say that the narration was very well done and with a good pace. I quickly found myself wanting to get back to the story while driving or taking walks. I was familiar with the story line because of the movie, which I always say is perhaps the only DiCaprio movie that I really enjoyed his acting. The book has little to say about the FBI agent assigned to catch him and ended w/o reference to his post-criminal career. It's not like I'm using his ideas for my own life. It doesn't diminish my enjoyment of the book whether he was at serious risk of entering Italian prisons as stated in the book or if he actually had all the sexual escapades. It's a good story and that's really all that's important. What I found most interesting is that while listening, I'm rooting for him to escape and pull off his cons. I don't like criminals, but he was fun. If you are wanting a story that is based on reliable truth or if you abhor criminal behavior, then I wouldn't recommend this book. But if you are just wanting a good and fun read, then Catch Me... remains and thoroughly engrossing book.

The book was hard to put down. I found myself wondering how he figured out his cons and admiring him for his boldness. Then I empathized with his loneliness. We have one thing in common, we both come from a broken home and I felt his pain. Truly a great read. I would like to meet Mr Abignale.

This book was well written and well edited. It was fastenating to read of all of Frank's experiences. You really get the idea that crime does not pay when he gets thrown into that French jail. His imagination was incredible. This was an easy read, but I did have to look up a few words to see their meaning. Read it, you just might enjoy it.

First off, it's a shame I had to give the book a 2. Shaw can write. Her prose is good, and the plot was occasionally bright, whacky and fun, with almost Pratchettlike elements.But, oh lordy, by about a third through I was rolling my eyes so much I nearly sprained them. The main character is almost the only woman, practically, in the entire book. She does little for herself, and she spends all her time being fawned over and gallantly rescued by males.And I'm serious about that. For fully half the book she languishes in a gloomy dungeon. But while there, she wins over one of her captors by the sheer force of her sweet heart. And collects cute monsters. Including the (yes male) one who finally swoops to her rescue and sets her free.She is surrounded by guys who devote themselves to rescuing her. 4 vampires, 2 ghost catchers. 2 demons. And a werewolf. And a male ghost in a sheet. She's like Snow White and the ten dwarfs. One of the vampires is her platonic friend, who does her hair and makeup. One of the vampires is the love interest, who she has brought out of a centuries' long depression. One of the demons, her guardian, has a permanent psychic tracker *in her head* to make sure she's always okay. REALLY?!So Greta isn't actually the only female character. But while there are two other females in the book, and neither of them have any agency. The book, in fact, arguably fails the Bechdel test. Whenever the women talk to each other, it's all about putting on the best makeup for the guys, satisfying the guys, recovering from being assaulted (turned to a vampire). None of the women are able to help themselves, and meet suitably passive fates (some better than others).Maybe this lone woman surrounded by gallant men thing is romantic? I don't know. It feels creepy and tedious, to me. I have zero interest in Greta in the end, sadly. I struggled to finish the book. The monsters' doctor premise was good. Shaw's the writing could be good. But in the end I was just irritated by how tedious the whole thing was.

As with the first book, Strange Practice, I was charmed by the characters and impressed with the way Shaw fits paranormal monsters into our modern world.Picking up shortly after where the first book left off, Greta is off to Paris to fill in at a conference for a friend who is under the weather. She’s not thrilled, but figures a few days in Paris and a night at the opera with Ruthven won’t be too bad. But when a little frog-like monster with a penchant for hoarding shiny things appears in her bathroom sink and later disappears without a clue as to how it arrived, Greta has a feeling the trip won’t be a simple one. The next night she’s confronted by another monster in her room, hairy but harmless. These lead her to seek out Alceste St. Germain, werewolf and paranormal guardian of Paris, only she’s kidnapped by a coven of vampires first. Their leader, Corvin, has a bone to pick with Ruthven and after Greta was spotted at the opera with him, Corvin thinks he’s found a way to get revenge on his long-time enemy.What I love about Shaw’s books is the way she blends the paranormal world with our own. The “monsters” in her books, for the most part, are looking to integrate with or hide from human society. This coven is breaking the rules of polite society but feasting on the locals, turning new vampires and now kidnapping Greta. These aren’t books about humans vs. monsters – the local vampires and werewolves and other creatures in Paris aren’t happy about this rogue coven either. I enjoy how Greta and the paranormal community as a whole are on the same side.Greta spends a large part of the book in captivity, but she still held my attention. There are even a few scenes where she’s able to demonstrate her professional abilities as doctor to otherworldly creatures. Plus the other characters get a chance in the spotlight and there’s a sort of subplot that centers around The Phantom of the Opera, which was neat. I also really loved the little swamp frog monsters. We’re introduced to more side characters, two of whom I found particularly interesting, especially their careers within in the paranormal community.This series is a lot of fun and the focus on the found family theme is a comforting one. As Ruthven says:“…you can make your own family, with the people you find along the way, and the home you will come to is the one you will build yourself.”Dreadful Company is an excellent sequel to Strange Practice and if you’re looking for some modern paranormal fantasy, I highly recommend it. I’m excited to see where the series goes!

I was super excited for this sequel and even made the advance purchase for this book. From the very beginning, it seemed rough trying to stay engaged and follow the story without rereading passages repeatedly. The characters never seemed to me like they advanced beyond the first book and there was a lot of back and forth, ie; a conversation would take place and then after the conversation was over there would be some sort of “flashback” and then the conversation would continue but the characters would be in a different point in the story. Towards the end, I was really irritated with the fact that some of the characters who made appearances in the beginning just disappear. One of the main characters from the previous book, Ruthven, whom I found witty, intuitive, smart and calm, is relegated to doing Greta’s hair, shopping and thinking about his plans for his house. I read a lot of books and I’m not often compelled to write a review unless I’m moved out of sheer delight for a book or sheer repulse and this would come under the latter. I just found this book to be rushed and not as enjoyable as the first.

This book was enjoyable for the most part. The solidification of the core group as a family made up for the rough spots. However: I have a major issue, and that is continuity. I don't care how much an author wants to explore a point or to give a character a subplot, ignoring their own storytelling is shoddy and they should be ashamed. At the beginning of Chapter 6, the author states that Varney hadn't traveled out of the country for a hundred years and proceeds to give us a humorous dialogue of his difficulties. All right and good, except HE WAS IN GREECE AT THE END OF THE LAST BOOK! That pretty much shriveled my enjoyment in the book and lost my respect for the author.
