I purchased this as a journal to use with my daily devotional and I LOVE it. The size is exactly as I expected (size as stated in the description) I wondered if the pen I use might bleed through the pages but it hasn't - so that is another Plus! I LOVE that there are verses on each page as well. This was PERFECT for me and exactly what I wanted!

I love how small this journal is. It's well put together and perfect for jotting down prayers, devotionals, or letters to God. This one is mine but I would definitely purchase again as a gift for someone.

I got this as a gift for my sister, when she was diagnosed with terminal Stage IV cancer, as a way to help her stay sane. She cried when she opened it, and writes in it frequently. The book itself is decent quality. The pages are holding up very well, so far!

I am VERY happy with this purchase. We had a large group of graduates this year the we were purchasing gifts for. So I was on a budget but still wanted it to be a nice gift that I could feel good about that conveyed a message I wanted to convey. I bought these for graduation gifts for some truly precious girls. I wanted them to have a way to remember how special they are...and that they do not have to fear the future. For them to remember that God is with them. I was pleased with the quality of this product. It makes a great gift for sure. Lovely, simple with a lasting message. A great journal for prayer journaling.

Ugh. This is tinier than expected and not the size of my regular journals, so this won't last long. But I do love the scriptures so I'm keeping it, with a bit of a heavy heart.

About the Author

Introducing Michael and Debi Pearl Michael and Debi Pearl have been married since 1971. They have 5 children and 15 grandchildren. Between them they have authored 14 books and 8 booklets which combined have sold millions. Much of what they write deals with marriage, child training, and homeschooling. One of their recent books, Good and Evil (Bible stories in Marvel comic format), has been published into 25 languages with another 60 translations soon to be ready for press. On another note, Michael is an inductee into the International Knife Throwers Hall of Fame and holds several world titles, including Gold Cup winner of 2008-9, long distance thrower of the year with a record all time high of hitting a four inch target at 63 feet, and he is the undisputed best tomahawk thrower of 2009, holding the world title. When he is not teaching the Bible or speaking to audiences on how to have a good marriage and obedient children he is teaching kids how to stick a bull's eye with a knife or hawk. This book kept me from beccoming a basket case when my husband was facing an organ transplant. It was written by a Rice U. prof who was a transplant patient and a transplant RN whose husband was also a transplant patient. Some of the info may be out of date but the basic info is still good. It probably saved me from a nervous breakdwon. My husband of over 40 years went virtually overnight from being someone in perfect health & never ill to someone with cancer, whose only hope for a cure was a transplant.I think enough of the book that I am ordering another for a friend whose son needs a transplant. Loaned my copy to someone else & it has never found its way home. Hope it is being put to good use!

Frederick Hale (born 1948) graduated from Macalester College in 1969 and was awarded master's degrees at Harvard University, the University of Minnesota, and the The John Hopkins University. He received his Doctor of Philosophy at John Hopkins in 1976. For an author who flaunts his research credentials, I am put off by the factual errors and flippant casual remarks that are entirely wrong. Example1. mentions the "steamer twins" when referring to the Stanley brothers who invented the Stanley Steamer...but then refers to them as the "Stanley Twins" some pages later.2. equates "two-stroke" as meaning the same as "two cylinder".3. mentions the replacement of hand cranking a motor with electric ignition, rather than electric starters.It goes on and on, little errors here and there and after about 40 pages of this I have set it aside. I probably will flip through it a bit some day, but I am very disappointed. I am a hard-core car buff and hoped to find some real hidden treasures in this book. Those treasures are probably there but I hesitate to believe other facts when I find errors that are easy to spot. How many other mistakes will I not recognize and take for the truth.Fact-checking is mandatory for this kind of historical reference and an author with Masters Degrees in research related fields should be a "master" at it. He should have stuck with used records and comic books. I feel like I was cheated out of my $16.

First of all, here is a note to the author: clearly you did a LOT of research and I thank you for it, as I found the topic interesting.IF you think of this book as an Index of car companies passing through history, and you're a "car guy / girl", this book offers value.IF you are looking for any type of in-depth analysis on these companies, you will be sorely disappointed.The thought of "a mile wide and an inch deep" comes to mind.I personally would have preferred a large coffee style book with a car or two representing each of the approximately 200 or so companies listed here within. If you expect the same, you will be disappointed, because they aren't here.There is value in this book, in that you will learn about companies that you have never heard of before ... it is then up to you to do your own research on any particular company of interest ... I just would have preferred the author to do that for the reader.Bottom line: The book is worth the money. I am glad I bought it. After you read it, you will be left wanting more. A LOT more. Assuming you like cars...That said, if you have limited interest in cars, you probably won't enjoy this book.

A large volume of interesting information is presented, but the book is somewhat disorganized and not particularly well written. It should be simply titled "Lost Car Companies" as a significant percentage of the companies covered are from places other than Detroit. At least one Detroit based automaker, Alter, is not even mentioned.I spotted a couple of factual errors related to Studebaker, a well documented auto company, which caused me to question the accuracy of the book as a whole. Regardless, the book does give a good sense of how many companies got in and out of the auto business over the years, and how several of the eventual giants of the industry crossed paths in the early days. The author's own photos of various factories as they look today are very interesting. But the book also includes images of postcards of plants without noting they were artists' renderings of the buildings and, at least in the case of Studebaker's Detroit facilities, were greatly exaggerated. Overall, still an interesting book worth reading.

Although there are a few evident errors or simplistic statements and the summaries are necessarily short, it's interesting to see the same people involved in so many different companies. More photos and more pages would be nice, and the price is a little high, but this is still a distinctive book of information not easily found elsewhere. Many photos are of original sites taken by the author. In some cases, locations other than Detroit are mentioned, because of the interconnections and relocations.

Ever wonder how many different automobile manufactures there were? Or were there any strange/weird ideas for early cars that were not very well thought out? Mr. Naldrett's book is a good listing of many different, some one never hears about, auto creators. He does not get bogged down with wordy descriptions but keeps the information brief yet complete enough for most manufacturers Do you enjoy trivia information about car makers then Naldrett's book is a good read/resource.

The writing is thin and disorganized. There, is not much content, and some of it is repeated. Plenty of editing errors. There are lots of nice pictures from the author's collection to add some value, just realize what you are getting if you purchase this book.

Very interesting documentary history book that is quite fashionately to read. Well worth the money. Thanks

Great behind the scenes details of a satirical masterpiece

I love books about books and I love Graham Greene, so I was excited to find Christopher Hull’s Our Man Down in Havana, the story behind the inspiration and writing of Greene’s spy satire Our Man in Havana. Hull has clearly done his research, and he is obviously well-versed in Cuban history. This, however, was the problem with the book for me: there was just so much information presented that it often got bogged down in tiny details from Greene’s childhood, his years in Britain’s intelligence service during WWII, the history of Cuba—even what Greene ate on each of his visits to the island. I understand that some of this is necessary for an understanding of how Our Man in Havana reflected Greene’s experiences and the era in which he was writing, but I just thought tighter editing would have made the story clearer and elevated this book to the status of Lesley Blume’s Everybody Behaves Badly, about the writing of Ernest Hemingway’s The Sun Also Rises. Still, the book was enjoyable for me as a fan of Greene and Our Man in Havana—which I would highly recommend reading before sitting down with this book.
