Planning an extensive driving tour thru Provence, and I needed a large-scale PAPER map so that I could easily highlight place names and write notes. This is a scale of 1/200,000 which is perfect, as its large enough to show much detail. Beautifully done with mileage, travel times, important places to see, and locations of gas stations.

This map and the other Michelin maps that we ordered for regions of France are very detailed and very well done. But, to find your way through the back roads, a GPS is far better. The GPS provides warning of how far away the turns are, and there were a lot of then. We would not have traveled as extensively through the smaller communities and out-of-the-way places with only maps and the traveling that we did would have been far more frustrating with just the maps. I have always liked maps and thought of the GPS a nonessential but am now an enthusiast.Some of the reviews mentioned that the maps were large and awkward in the car but we had no problem in that regard.

Nice map, but was a map of several countries, including France. Had wished for map of France only with several inserts of cities of France. It was a nice reference - hard to tell toll roads, ended up using map as a reference and our GPS more. Easy drive from Zurich to Dion, then looping to Annecy (lovely town). Passed thru several small downtowns of (about 4 American blocks) towns. No stop signs, nor lights, just round circles (round a bouts), GPS helped a lot - many towns listed future towns on direction arrows - which is where this map helped! Hit a construction in France, ended up a rural hill - so GPS nor map helped, glad I caught a glimpse of road before GPS switched to new route. But if you get lost, most roads loop back to main road. Also if use nontoll roads plan extra 2 hours for longer legs of trip (As in Zurich to Dion, France). Also - on the GPS non toll route - HARDLY any cars on road - Awesome!! Tip: Always keep a 1/2 tank - gas stations hard to find, non in 1 block towns (ha), and several were closed. Also suggest carry cash - had hard time getting code to take on our credit cards with chips at stations. Also many have diesel, so make sure you study type needed. I believe we used something with a 95e in it. "Gasal is Diesel - and green handle is what you want. But ask someone to be safe. Hints - check with hotel on free downtown parking hours. Get the smallest car you can - many parking spots were tight- not unusual to see side windows pulled in, and leave room at back if back in, just in case person next to you is close in garage and you need to climb via trunk to get into car. ha Another hint: heard 2 horror stories of Eurocar rental - incorrect size for large family- they had to come back the next day, another family had to go to 3 DIFFERENT Places to track down their rental car. Most rental cars are stick shift.

The map is fine and was marginally helpful on our recent trip. However, as other have commented previous on the Michelin maps - it is huge! Very difficult to manage in a car. Parts of the area covered are represented on both sides of the map, so that is confusing, too. Don't know if I'll use this style map again.

This detailed road map saved us from getting lost daily, during a recent trip to Brittany, especially because cellular service on our otherwise smart-phone was non-existent in many small villages and back roads. Well worth buying ahead of time!

We always buy maps for our intended vacation destinations months before the trip. We study the entire region and along with guide books choose one particular area as a focal point. The Michelin Regional Maps are extremely useful in helping us make this decision and to see the interesting sites within short distances for us to fan out and explore. After our daily trips, my husband highlights the routes that we have explored and the map then becomes a keepsake. Love them.

This should be labeled western Loire Valley, only. Cuts off Saumur and barely covers Tours. I recommend Michelin maps, but wish I didn't overlook some previous comments that mentioned that this map does NOT cover the entire Loire Valley.

Useful in planning our trip. Disappointing that it only covers the western portion of the valley. I needed to order the map for Central France to plan for our trip. Has good detail, with route names and driving distances. Large to use in the car--but most maps are if not folded to reveal smaller areas.

History is cleverly enmeshed with story lines. Characters and surroundings are fleshed out with enough details to put the reader in the story that spans the Mediterranean Sea, prosperity and living the life as a slave, great love and debased wickedness. The reader is taken back to a time of Caesar's assassination when only a group called Jews lived a life of morality that is contradicted by the cultures of Egyptian-Roman rule. You will enjoy this story. You will live it. You will remember it.This is a clean book as far as sexual topics are concerned and Hunt does mention how people were killed without going into any of the details.

Really enjoyed reading this novel which brings the life and times to life. The author did a great job with three historical facts. Much of it reminded me of the movie Cleopatra with Richard Burton and Liz Taylor. The character Chava's life was one of sheer drama set against the crazy culture of the times, slavery, brutality of Roman wars, etc. People's lives were @ the mercy of Roman thugs as families were constantly split up with no regard for children or women. Well done Angela Hunt.

I enjoyed both the historicity of this book and the amazing fiction entwines with it. It is a very interesting story of forgiveness, honor, duty, friendship, trust, and much more. It has many aspects of actual historical events as well as an authentic atmosphere of the times. The characters are not perfect and struggle with real life personal struggles that will wrap you up in the story and have you rooting for deliverance. It had eye opening depictions of slavery as well. It is a very good story.

An excellent story woven around mostly real historical characters. I almost quit reading at one point because so many bad things happened to the protagonist. It was depressing. Then things begin to turn around--at least somewhat. I don't want to give it away. That's why the 4 stars and not 5. I read for entertainment. Suffering and heartache are not entertaining. Still worth reading however.

I started worrying at 50% that the book was going to end too soon. I didn't want it to end. I loved this book. It kept turning in so many different unexpected directions. Can't say enough about it.

Yet again we are given an entrance into the life and times of people who are really beyond our understanding. The complexity of their personal and political lives at the very peak of their power is exposed in this wonderful story Angela has woven together. Yes by all means give yourself a treat and read it. Thank you Angela.

The story covers Cleopatra and a Jewish childhood friend through their lives and to Cleopatra’s death. Vivid imagery of Alexandria and Rome bring the story to life showing the reader what life in many areas might have been. The Jewish population and culture as well as the lifestyle of Egyptian and Roman royalty is depicted. Well-researched and well-documented, the reader is given an enjoyable journey with our Jewish heroine, who along the way finds that people are not always as they seem.

Facinating and engrossing read about the Cleopatra era. Read in one setting, even while cooking and eating dinner. I will pre-order the next book as soon as it is available on kindle.

Plueddemann does an excellent treatment of understanding various aspects of culture in a clear and understandable manner. His use of illustrations adds color and readability to the text. This book is a foundation for people who are required to lead within other cultures - foreign and otherwise.

Anyone working in a leadership position in a cross-cultural situation needs to read this book. It provides insights I have found to be particularly helpful as an administrative in various African country settings.

My daughter really enjoyed it in her class.

Great book on cultures and being grounded theologically. I appreciate his perspectives and separating out what needs to be consistent and ways to share the truth of the gospel with people who don't see the world the same way I do. I highly recommend it.

I was captivated by this book. Once I started reading it I could not put it down. Jim Pleudemann nails the cultural approaches to leadership right on the head. Having grown up in Africa and the United States it often brought a smile to my face when I recalled instances where a simple issue became complex because of leadership differences.Recently the issue of leadership styles lead to an unfortunate miscommunication between an African organization and our church that lead to the closing of a very much needed school. This caused consternation and needless hardship for both the church and organization. Both parties had the same objective and meant well but lead to an unfortunate turn of events. Needless to say, I have recommended this book to our mission group at church. I would strongly recommend this book to westerners working cross-culturally and vice-versa. Jim has a way with words that really breaks down the intricate nature of leadership cross-cultural in a simple, non-judgemental manner, a MUST read!

I know the author of this well. It is written for a class he is teaching at a seminary for PHD students. He is well versed in the topic as he spent many years on the mission field.It should be helpful for anyone going into the ministry or missions in cross cultural situations.Cross culture can even mean some situations in the US.

Plueddemann has a wealth of cross-cultural experience and knowledge. He encapsulates in this book. Through great advice and many illustrations and anecdotes, he demonstrates the difficulties and great possibilities of cross-cultural leadership. A great read.

It's a heartbreaking read at times, but I loved how Woods made the story as light-hearted as she could. She invites the reader into her marriage and heart, and I am so grateful for the awareness that this book raises about the plight of this loving primate. I feel motivated to get my ape on once again. I'll have to scour my shelves for another book about apes because their world is one I love to lose myself in!

The best book on the Bonobo chimp! Bringing both the emerging love story of her and her fiancee as it unfolds in her discovery of the ways and temperaments of the most elusive and mysterious ape species on the planet. These loving and lovable chimps are the closet thing we females have to a matriarchal social-cultural example of what is possible with female cooperation. The Congo is dangerous and the journey that she and her fiancee (now husband) take to study these fabulous females is awe-inspiring. True pioneers! The writing is personal, funny, frightening, inspiring and very, very human. This is a classic!

there should be more of a disclaimer for those might be upset by descriptions of graphic violence. The author introduces these without warning -- you're reading along happily and suddenly you're confronted by truly horrific descriptions of rape, cannibalism, torture, mutilation, and killing. While raising awareness of the war in the Congo is necessary, I personally cannot read such horrors without it sinking deep into my psyche and haunting me forever. Since I am not able to remove such darkness once it gets into me, I would've preferred being warned about those scenes. (In fact, after the first exposure I was able to find someone to warn me about what portions to skip.) It is quite possible to enjoy the book even when skipping those scenes.

I agree with the vast majority of reviewers who gave this book high ratings (and if you liked it, you should also read Lucy by Laurence Gonzales--fiction but fascinating). I've been interested in bonobos for quite awhile and learned so much from Ms. Woods' poignant account of her time in the Congo, her research and her husband's, and the selfless people who work at the sanctuary.I feel compelled to comment on the one and two star ratings, particularly regarding Ms. Woods' writing abilities and credentials. So, okay, she's not Hemingway...but this is a personal memoir (which also included a lot of facts about her subjects and Congo) and her 'voice' comes through loud and clear. She is at once engaging, humorous, compassionate and caring. I laughed, wept, and felt compelled to learn more about both the Congo and the bonobos--an author can't achieve much better than that. As to the following comments: "Absolute drivel, written by an armchair adventurer whose observations about Congo were made from the comfort of her bonobo sanctuary" ... Ms. Woods was/is far more than an armchair adventurer. She had researched chimps for several years before going to the bonobo sanctuary; she is a graduate of the Australian National University with a Masters degree, and is now a Research Scientist in Evolutionary Anthropology at Duke University, not to mention an award-winning journalist. I'm guessing she knows more about bonobos than 99% of the planet, including everyone who has read (and reviewed) her book. And her focus was not to write an account of the wars there (though I'm impressed with her knowledge about them and glad she shared it), bur rather to share her experience and involvement with regard to the very specific tests and experiments done at the sanctuary. So, hmmm...I wonder what purpose would have been served if Ms. Woods would have deliberately put herself in harm's way by blustering into war zones. Aside from peacekeepers, war journalists or soldiers deployed to do so, I can't think of anybody who would want to!I hope I meet this fascinating woman some day and I hope she continues her worthwhile work.

An accidental find and a surprisingly attention grabbing book! I was not expecting to fall in love, but I did. I can get bored with a book and, if it doesn't catch on by page 80, I put it down and never pick it up again; there was no risk of that here. I will say that the book is for a mature audience so you might make your teens wait to read this one. I do think it gave me an understanding of human conflict in Congo that I had little awareness of previously so it is a great book for young adults to read and get a sense of the world. I'm definitely recommending it to my friends and family!

I am one of those "fix it" types of mommas -- fix the boo-boos, fix the hurt feelings, fix whatever causes my children any pain. When my son, Ricochet, was diagnosed with ADHD in 2008, at just six years old, I was devastated. There's no "fix" for ADHD. It took me more than two years to figure it out -- there's no magic bullet for ADHD either, and obsessing about finding one can only make things worse. I realized a few years after diagnosis, that there is quite a learning curve to parenting a child with ADHD, and I was finally getting to the long, (mostly) even stretch at the end of it. Parents of children with ADHD are given a diagnosis, handed a prescription, and pushed back out into the world without any guidance, and certainly without instructions. "Call us if the medication doesn't prove beneficial," they might offer. It's my mission to help parents of children with ADHD learn how to get to know their children's needs meaningfully so they can guide them to a happy and success future. I want to use my joy and pain in my learning curve to help others on this journey experience it with more joy and less pain.

Excellent, Excellent, Excellent!!! Can't say enough about this book and the author for writing it. Her willingness to share her experiencewith ADHD is invaluable. My daughter is dealing with ADHD X 3 on a daily basis and I believe this book will definitely help her with the difficulties she faces each day in dealing with her loved ones with ADHD. I actually believe that much of the advice offered in this book can be applied to almost any family dynamic. It truly is a step by step manual for dealing with the complexities of family life. The author has done all of the work for you and all you need to do is implement the plan. The book also includes so much invaluable advice on how to deal with school issues. I cannot praise this book enough! There are many books on this subject out there, and I have bought many of them, but this is really the only one you need.

Wow, I am a good reader in the ADHD feild. Since my son was diagnosed in 2016, I've been reading articles, books, seeking help from specialists, but this book is different. No one, no body gave me the kind of information she did, or I should say no body gets it and tells you the trueth and how to deal with it, how to seek help, what to do, what to read. She opened my eyes and mind to alot of things I was'nt paying attention to. She tells you what you should do, how to do it and shares her good and bad stories of her experience. If you are a parent struggling with your kid like I am, read this book it will help you a lot and may get you out of the woods.

This was the first book on parenting a child with ADHD that I've read (I've read several) that I enjoyed from start to finish. Penny Williams is down to earth, honest, and literally made me laugh out loud. I got so many practical ideas and advice from this book that I literally had highlights on every page. Highly recommend to any parent with a new or years old diagnosis!!

This was a gift for my friend whose 3 year old son likely has ADHD. She is thrilled by the book-- offering hope and relief of guilt and anxiety starting even with the introduction. The information and concepts are new for her and her husband Ir is written in a clear, compassionate and non-blaming way. It's just the beginning: already the marriage is better - more compassion and mutual appreciation.

I absolutely love this book- it so incredibly helpful, and I really appreciate how the author does not criticize parents who use, or choose not to use, medicine to help control ADHD. She incorporates helpful lists, worksheets, and other sources to help one understand ADHD and its symptoms, as well as helping manage those symptoms. I most definitely recommend this book to someone with ADHD, parents of children with ADHD, and teachers.

She has already researched and road tested much of the information out there on ADHD, and she provides practical and implementable advice, saving ADHD parents time (a thing that we really need!) In particular, her chapters on forming a support network of medical providers and dealing with the school address what are often very stressful and emotional processes for parents and break those processes down into calm steps. Always keeping her humor intact, she has created the starting place for ADHD parents. This can-do American mom approach also would be useful for parents of children outside of the United States who are struggling to piece together support for their children.

I am so thankful that there is a book out there like this one. ADHD is so real and it affects each and every day of our lives. I feel so thankful to have read this book as it is a "real" account of what it is like to be a Mother to a child with this disability. I have read many books on ADHD but I will honestly say I am most thankful for this book. The author has excellent resources for us. She also has experienced it firsthand and everything she has gone through, I have also gone through. It is just so nice to have another Mother that "gets it". It can be isolating at times to have a child that is so different than all the others. One thing the author points out is that there is no cure for ADHD, it can't be fixed but we are still able to assemble a team together to help our children with their ADHD journey. I would HIGHLY recommend this to any Mother, Father or teacher!

Almost done reading this book and I am SO grateful I purchased this book. HIGHLY recommend to any parent with a child or anyone in their life suffering with ADHD.

After I read the first story in the series I thought this is not horror as I perceive it, but I thoroughly enjoyed it anyway.as I continued through the rest of the stories I became addicted to his writing and couldn’t stop reading and as it turned out some of the stories were truly horrifying.i have thoroughly enjoyed this set of stories and can’t wait to read his Most terrifying places on earth. You’ve got to try this author .trust me you won’t be disappointed.

Each story was riveting and kept me reading til the wee hours of the morning. If you are a fan of Stephen King, you will enjoy these stories. Of course some of them will probably give you nightmares, but that's the whole point!

His books and stories are amazing, and he is probably the best writer you've never heard of, by far. If you know who he is, or have read him before, then you wouldn't need to bother with a review, because you would know how great it's going to be. If, however, you've only read one of his books, or a short story, and are thinking, " I wonder if this will be anywhere near as imaginative, well written, exciting, or just plain good? After all, nobody gets it right a hundred percent of the time. " Let me just say, it is, and he does. If, however, you are one of the unlucky ones who have never sampled a taste of his talent... Oh, you poor, poor thing. Come on, give it a try. All the cool kids are doing it. And you won't be disappointed. It's incredible. It's amazing, and you're going to have a hell of a good time. Right up until the end. The only problem I have are the cravings. As soon as it's done, I inevitably want more. But, luckily he's still writing, and there's more to get! So, go ahead. Have a taste. This is my first exposure to Jeremy’s writing. I enjoyed all the short horror stories and found I was discussing them with others. He covers some really life issues like PTSD and other mental health issues that as result make good horror and even some gruesome like the Black Canyon story. The last story however was not of the same category and boring to my interest. Overall I am very interested in reading other horror by the author. He is creative in the twist with each of the horror stories added an unexpected layer or still surprising you with information you feel like you already had put together.

The stories are very riveting...a great collection that kept me turning pages...I would reccomend for the adult crowd who likes a little mystery and suspense rolled up into one.

Each of the stories in this collection is very different, and they are all very good. Well written, with a twist that creeps up on you until you realize that your hair is standing on end. Read this!

I haven't finished the book yet but spooks pretty well so far.
