Once again, I am in awe of Rebecca Ross’ fantastic storytelling in a wonderful YA fantasy world, especially for an author whose debut novel was in that first book. I loved The Queen’s Resistance.The Queen’s Resistance picks up a short time after the end of the Queen’s Rising, where the revolution has successfully ended to be followed by a massive rebuilding. Our heroes that helped win the war, Brienna (our wonderful heroine), Cartier (our hero), Isolde (the new Queen), Davin MacQuinn & Luc MacQuinn ( Brienna’s adopted family) meet to determine the other houses if they are true allies or enemies from the then evil King. With Isolde’s coronation upcoming, grievances are being asked from the surviving families to determine who besides the evil king will be executed for their terrible deeds. While decisions are being made, each of the families will return to their rightful Home after hiding for 25 years. Brienna goes with her father and brother to their house, with many of those who served MacQuinn also returning. Wheras, everyone is happy to have the MacQuinns back, there are some who resent Brienna. That will change over the course of time, but it makes Brienna uncomfortable listening to the whispers; but some of the maids will openly accept her and help her. Cartier, who is now known by his true name as Aodhan Morgane, returns to a house that has fallen apart, but those who are loyal to the Morganes, will also return to help bring the house back to its glory. A young boy, Tomas, is found hiding in the house, and Cartier will take him in; he will play a major part in this story.As the families of all the houses return to their rightful homes, there are still other houses that were loyal to the Lannons, and cannot be trusted. Though the revolution is over there are still enemies at these houses that are determined to stop Isolde from being Queen of Maevana.This was such a wonderful heartwarming story, as each of them try to rebuild their lives and homes from the horrific deaths and tragedy years before. I loved Brienna, as she continues to be a terrific heroine, as well as a wonderful friend and consultant to Isolde, not to mention her romance with Cartier. But the danger is not over, as betrayals will put lives on the line. Allies and loyalties must be confirmed, and enemies dealt with before the coronation to ensure safety for all.What follows is an exciting, intriguing, action packed, and heartwarming adventure that will have Brienna in the middle of betrayals, deception and twists that will have us holding our breaths. As we raced to the climatic finish, the final half of the book was intense and heartbreaking, as we could not put the book down. I will say I loved the ending that was written so well by Ross, as it was very heartwarming, with love and happiness. Brienna was such a great heroine, and her romance with Cartier was wonderful. I loved Isolde, the new Queen, and her connection to Brienna. Ross also created some wonderful secondary characters.The Queen’s Ressistance was a fantastic, fascinating, page burner adventure in a magnificent world that I would love to continue. I cannot tell too much more, as it would be major spoilers. You need to find out everything for yourself. I loved every moment of this book, with its amazing characters, history, family, war, and love. Bravo to Rebecca Ross for this wonderful journey.

As a congregational rabbi, there were many good lessons that I took from Warren's model of church leadership and organization. Not all of the mission of his type of church is translatable to synagogue life. Though, I believe there is more that is similar than different.His outline of types of churches is extraordinarily helpful. There are all different types of congregations, from the learning congregation to the praying congregation. In reality, our houses of worship are amalgamations of all sorts of personality types. That being said, we get into trouble when we do not have clarity about who we are, and by what we are driven. Here enters the purpose. To first define our purposes and then to drive with those right up front changes the conversation we're having. No longer do we have to feel like we're keeping up with the congregation down the street. Rather, we can be comfortable in our own skin. We know who we are and why we exist. That gives a new sense of freedom and an ability to be creative.Warren's book is clearly written, and has lots of great practical advice. What I loved about it was that he brought together lots of different ideas that I have seen echoed in other texts. This would also be a great resource for congregational lay leaders, not just rabbis and pastors.

Have you ever had the burden to start up a new church, but don't know how? Have you ever wondered if there were things you can do to better service the church? Have you ever wondered about new ways to attract people and make them feel welcome? Is the place where you meet in shambles and you want to do something to turn it around? I just finished this for the 2nd time and plan on starting it all over again. I have been putting into practice these principles into the life of the church for over 20 years and seen much MUCH fruit. This time reading it I have committed to brush off the cob webs of the PDC model. I thought that the principles would be outdated since the first time I read this. NO WAY! Still applicable today as when this was first written and when I first read it. I am more committed to building a PDC church now more than ever. If you are a seasoned pastor, someone who is discerning Gods call into ministry, or someone who is just starting out in ministry - this book is a must read and re-read.

I'm giving this as a gift to one of my nephews who has been ordained about a year and is just starting his own church which right now is a small congregation and of course, I feel this book can and will increase his membership as he follows and applies the information provided in the book.

Developed a deeper and richer understanding of God's purpose in my life and the life of other Christ-followers. Have used to teach small groups of Pastor Rick's understanding of God's unique purpose for each follower and identifying and putting into action each persons unique purpose.

This book is not what I ordered!!! I ordered JUST ONE COPY OF "The Purpose Driven Church: Every Church Is Big in God's Eyes by Rick Warren. (1995)" But I got Growth without comprising your message and (the same author but a different book entirely. I JUst don"t understand this. I want the book i ordered.

Practical, biblical, thought provoking, inspirational. Love Rick Warren, his writing and preaching. Just excellent. Highly recommend it for any pastor, church staff, and believer willing to live life on mission.

My child is 5 yo right brained dyslexic, and after doing heavy phonics intervention myself for 9 months, my child is reading at age appropriate level. But I'm not satisfied, as I still see that decoding is all but natural. I'm interested in her developing her inherent talents, not in styfling it by unnaturally rewiring her brain, because this is what we do when we teach phonics. And Jeffrey presents some very practical ways to teach literacy harnessing their inherent visual spacial talents.Jeffrey's book presents some insight into the workings of right brain dominant, aka visual spacial, children. He presents some very practical visual approaches for teaching different subjects.

This book has important insights into how dyslexics learn, since most dyslexics are right-brained. It includes an excellent explanation of why phonics doesn't make sense to a right-brianed learner, and provides ideas for teaching in other ways. I used several ideas from this book in my teaching handbook, Dyslexia Tool Kit for Tutors and Parents: what to do when phonics isn't enough. If your child is bright and curious, but school isn't working out well for them, be sure to read this book!

I downloaded this book yesterday and spent the whole day reading reading it. I am the mom of an 8 year old boy with ADHD and as a Social Worker I work with many ADD/ ODD/ and otherwise classified children. I have know my son was different and experiencing difficulties since he was a toddler. He is so bright, funny, loving and so emotionally attuned to my moods that I tell my husband he is an empath. Out of desperation, after much deliberation, he has been on Ritalin for a year at a very low dose and this has allowed him to remain in the same grade as his twin (very left-brained) sister. But I have so much insight now and can't wait to start applying the techniques. So many of the things I have observed and intuitively knew (oh found out I am very right brain too) about him, are explained in this book. And I see him in a POSITIVE light and have the vocabulary to share all the strengths I already knew was there. Get this book!

Since this was a first read on the subject of right and left brained thinking and the differences in learning methods, I found it fascinating. The authors constructed it logically enough for the layperson to get a grip on the various methods for visualization of material for reading, math, and writing. Also included are some proven techniques for the teacher. This is not the all inclusive volume for teachers but if you're looking for an introduction to understanding an individual with ADD, I found this book very informative.

One of those "Wow" books that everyone must read. To be honest I bought it because I know that some of my children are right brained learners and I wanted strategies to help them with their education (we homeschool but any parent would benifit from this book) and I missed the small print that said it was geared towards children with ADD/ADHD. As it turns out my one child who I mainly bought the book to help doesn't have either. However, instead of returning the book, I've kept it, read it, highlighted & underlined it. I've learned so much amazing information about ADD/ADHD & I've thoroughly enjoyed the research shared on how &when the brain develops how it affects learning, behavior, etc... & so much more. It's not that I was unknowledgeable in these areas nor that all the information presented was new to me but that the facts and research are so clearly put. There was so much useful information even for someone who doesn't have a child with ADD/ADHD.This would be a great baby shower book to give to the expectant parents.

I found this book while searching for information on helping my son who clearly does not learn easily in what is considered the 'normal' way. Not only did I find Jeffrey very helpful, his voice is compassionate. He understands because he's been there - as a teacher but, perhaps more importantly, as a right brained person living in a left brained world. I believe this is a great starting point for any parent with a struggling learner.

I bought this book as a gift for a friend so I can't really review it.

This is an excellent book to help understand how left vs right brained kids learn and how to parent them differently.
